New Challenges and Innovative Tracts in Nutrition, Public Health and Human Development
The Africa Nutritional Epidemiology (ANEC) conferences present a unique opportunity for nutrition scientists, health professionals and practitioners from the non-governmental sector (NGOs) to come together to discuss Nutrition issues of relevance to Africa.
ANEC also provides a platform for networking and for policy makers and organisations to tap into the talents and expertise of members to support their projects and programmes.
We are hoping that this year’s conference will achieve the following outcomes:
- Knowledge sharing, harmonisation, partnerships and training and encouragement of young people working in the field of nutrition and public health in Africa.
- Provide an opportunity for linkages between nutrition and health professionals in Africa and other parts of the world in a true partnership and to promote inter-agency and inter-organisational partnerships.
- Training workshops to provide specific skills in research methodology, nutritional and health screening and the use of appropriate software e.g. epiinfo for health data management. Networking among young nutrition and health professionals and identification of new project leaders to support the nutrition agenda for Africa.
- Outputs will be disseminated in the form of proceedings and scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals at reasonable cost to encourage emerging scientists and health workers in Africa to take a more pro-active role in prevention of nutrition-related diseases.
- Provide an opportunity for networking to share in outputs and create collaborative partnerships to promote nutrition & public health education, partnership and research as part of the drive to support the developmental agenda and attainment of the millennium development goals (MDGs) in Africa.
